Whale Watch: Coinbase Entity
This collection monitors the behaviours of the Coinbase entity that began aggressively accumulating from Coinbase Exchange November 2nd, 2023


$ROSE Trader: Whale Watch (Entity Accumulation) — this chart tracks the accumulated volumes of our Coinbase entity, which started accumulating November 2, 2023. I initially treated this is numerous separate whales, but we can observe from the wallet behaviours that it is most likely a single entity accumulating across numerous wallets i.e. we see these wallets sequentially 'fill-up', to the day and hour we can observe that as soon as a certain quota is reached on one a new wallet is identified and begins the same process of accumulation from Coinbase exchange with the same buying habits and size.

$ROSE Trader: Whale Watch (Entity Cost Basis) — this model develops a rolling cost basis approximation targeting the now 6 wallets that appear to be accumulating as a single entity, captured as part of the Whale Watch (Class of 2023) monitor above. The Entity Cost Basis is estimated by referencing the ROSEUSD price at the time tokens were transferred off exchange.

$ROSE Trader: Whale Watch (Entity Token Volume Z Score)

This chart monitors the shift in the Z Score of our entity's token volume, showing the rate of change over time.

  • The z-score will show the ratio of the 3-day to 30-day moving average of the entity's token volumes.
  • The chart marks +1 and -1 standard deviations (σ) of the token volume 3-day moving average
  • When the Z Score is trending above the 0 we know that on a 3-day moving average basis the positive token volumes are trending above the mean.
    Conversely, when it is trending below the 0 we know the token volumes on a 3-day moving average basis are trending below the mean.
  • When the Z Score exceeds +1 or -1 standard deviations, we know there is a clear shift from the typical accumulation/distribution habits
